Published Sept. 13, 2005
SESSION #1: SHANE SCHNEIDER (Interview from GENCON 2005)

Age: 33
From: Rockingham, Queensland, Australia
Favorite clan: Assamites

BP:

For how long have you been playing V:TES?

SS:

Since the game came out. What was that...1994?

BP:

Why did you travel to Gen Con?

SS:

Because I wanted to come out here and drink lots of beer with all
these, like, crazy people. Yeah, that's about it. Oh, and play some
V:TES.

BP:

What did you think of the NAC this year?

SS:

What the fuck's the NAC?

BP:

The North American Championship.

SS:

Oh! Is that what it means? Oh, righto! Yeah, it was alright. It
was a long way to come for it - I'm pretty tired when I get up here.
Yeah, it's good fun. Everyone seems to have fun and we drink lots and
it's great!

BP:

How often do you travel to play V:TES?

SS:

I travel a lot, like in Australia we travel maybe 3-4 hours to go to
some tournaments. But I travel, yeah, like, I've been over to America
twice, Europe twice - from Indonesia when I lived there. So, yeah, I get
around a bit.

BP:

What can you tell us about your local playgroup?

SS:

Rockhamption is funny - it only started up there last year, I think
it was. I wasn't living there at the time. They get together every couple
weeks or so for games. It's pretty strong up there at the moment. They
usually play at peoples' houses.

BP:

How does your local metagame affect your deck design?

SS:

In Australia we have, like, pretty combat-heavy environments. We all
tend to focus on combat decks a lot. Stealth-bleed gets jumped on pretty
quick. Yeah, we don't like cheese.

BP:

How many decks do you currently have built?

SS:

I've got 40 decks at the moment, and it's mostly clan-specific stuff.
There're only a couple that are non-clan-specific. Yeah, but the most
would be Assamite - I think I've got about 5 Assamite deck.

BP:

What's your favorite deck?

SS:

Thetmes Decapitate. He gets superior Potence, Shadow Feints, and
rips peoples' heads off.

BP:

What would you like to see in V:TES?

SS:

More of those like, those semi-lesbian pictures they put on the
cards. They fuckin' rock!

BP:

What other hobbies do you have?

SS:

Mountain biking, swimming, and I do a little bit of climbing. I do a little bit of cooking and reading - it's the sensitive side.

BP:

What are your favorite bands?

SS:

My favorite bands are Henry Rollins, Fear Factory, sometims I get
into a bit of softer metal stuff like Disturbed, Limp Bizkit.

BP:

Nightwish?

SS:

Yeah I've heard them a bit. Is that the band with the chick in it?

BP:

Yeah.

SS:

No, I'm not really into chick bands.

BP:

What are you favorite movies?

SS:

Scream is my all-time favorite. I just love that slasher flick and
the two-killer thing, like that really spun me up. And the vampire
genre like Blade, sort of action movies. I think Blade Trinity was
really piss funny.

BP:

What do you have to say to all your fans out there?

SS:

Just be true to yourself, keep drinking beer. Don't listen to what
they say - it's great shit full of lots of vitamins. And let's hope that
V:TES lives forever!
