THE PEAL SESSIONS
  >An ongoing series of interviews with some of the more interesting and creative players in the world of VTES.

Published Dec. 1, 2005
SESSION #2: JOSCHA DUELL (Interview from GENCON 2005)

Age: 34
From: Frankfurt, Germany
Favorite clan: Malkavian antitribu - Korah is a big favorite

BP:

What is your favorite deck?

JD:

I like to play vote decks. I love my Tzimisce vote most, I think, but I always like to play Malk bleed with some tricks - some vote tricks.

BP:

For how long have you been playing the game?

JD:

10 years, like we all!

BP:

How does your local metagame affect your deck design?

JD:

We sometimes play with hard bounce, just for training for tournaments, but in our fun games I play everything. Itest more in tournaments than in our fun games.

BP:

What other games do you play?

JD:

Roleplaying - White Wolf Vampire roleplaying, and some tabletop if I have time to. In the last year I mainly play V:TES.

BP:

What other hobbies do you have?

JD:

Reading, walking, hiking.

BP:

What are your favorite bands?

JD:

Oh, my favorite bands! That's difficult. I like HIM, I like Metallica, Linkin Park, Abba, Evanescence, Nickleback, Creed - I like Creed very much.

BP:

What are your favorite movies?

JD:

I like King of Queens - but don't tell anybody! I'm not that much a movie viewer. I like Monty Python films - Life of Brian.

BP:

What would you like to see in V:TES?

JD:

Nice people! *laughs* I don't much about the World of Darkness, so I can't tell what will come. My main urge is that the game stays as it is in terms of balance, and be careful pushing the game further. I like all the expansions - they are all fun - so I hope that goes on.

BP:

How often do you travel to play V:TES?

JD:

Once every two months, not very much. I mostly play with my own group.

BP:

What decks do you have currently built?

JD:

Dominate Potence with some Giovanni, Lasombra weenie Embrace, my
Inner Circle Deck, and my Malkavian deck.

BP:

What was it like to totally ace 4 Prince decks in the finals of the 2001 EC using a Derange deck? (Note: Josha won the 2001 EC in Paris)

JD:

It was very great! I was the 5th seed when I came into the finals, so I thought, "Ok, nothing to lose!", but then after some Princes get stuck because they had no blood anymore - it was really cool! It was great to win - that was a great thing. I didn't pay that much attention if somebody was pissed 'cause of Deranges.

BP:

*Laughs*

JD:

But it was very nice - it was a great experience.

BP:

Do you have words for your fans out there?

JD:

Do I have fans?

BP:

Of course you have fans!

JD:

Oh, no! Yeah...Keep playing! Have fun! Enjoy the game, and
don't be so hard pressing. Peace!
